The battle to save the Vaquita of the Gulf of California involves an interesting cast of characters: a Mexican drug cartel, Chinese wildlife traffickers, and an endangered fish’s swim bladder. Scientists believe the critically endangered porpoises, down to a population of 100, could become extinct within three years if drastic action is not taken.

Ikelite releases MIL housings for Olympus mirrorless cameras
Ikelite has launched their MIL system for mirrorless cameras. The first two housings are for the Olympus OM-D E-M10 and PEN E-PL7 cameras. The housings feature Ikelite’s TTL strobe triggering system and a new interchangeable lens system. This offers support for Olympus and Panasonic zoom, wide-angle and macro lenses.
Ikelite announces housing for Lumix LX100
Ikelite has announced their housing for the Panasonic LUMIX LX100 compact camera. As the camera features a hot shoe, Ikelite can offer their TTL strobe connection. In addition, it is compatible with wet color filter, wide-angle, and macro lenses suitable for 3.9-inch diameter ports.

Whilst the technology and data that tagging programs can provide is amazing, are the studies in the animals or the researchers best interests? Is the proliferation on tagging programs really giving us the scientific data we need to protect the creatures, or are we damaging the very animals we seek to protect with them?
Subal announces GH4 housing
Subal has released rendering of their housing for the Panasonic LUMIX GH4 camera, which will be shipping in December. The housing is machined from a single block of aluminum and will be compatible with Subal’s existing ports and accessories.
Last space: Wetpixel Tiger sharks 2015
We have one space available for the Wetpixel Ultimate Tiger Sharks expedition. The trip, based in Freeport, Grand Bahama, runs from 03 to 10 January 2015, and will feature 5 days of diving and photographing the amazing population of tiger sharks (Galeocerdo cuvier) which are resident at Tiger Beach at this time of year. The trip is land based, and we will be hosted by Epic Diving with the trip leader being Wetpixel Editor, Adam Hanlon.
