5-year old boy swims with whale shark
I’ve just returned from the Wetpixel Isla Mujeres Whale Shark Expedition 2011, which was incredible, as expected. We had 12 participants this year, including a 5-year old boy named Kieran Liu, whose first moments in the ocean involved swimming madly after a large, feeding whale shark.
Each July/August, over 400 whale sharks aggregate off of Isla Mujeres to feed on tunny (bonito tuna) eggs. It is the largest aggregation of the largest fish in the ocean!
