Amazing image of Amazonian pink dolphin
Clark Miller captured this amazing image of pink Amazonian dolphins (Inia geoffrensis geoffrensis) or boto and added it to the Wetpixel Facebook group. He describes taking the image thus:
“The image was taken near Ariau in the flooded Amazon forest, outside of Manaus. I was using a Canon 7D with a 10-17 lens shot at 10mm. ISO 640 f/5.0 at 1/200th. Nauticam housing with 9” Zen glass dome port. All available light. In my opinion the lighting was sufficient in the dark waters because the boto are close to the surface. Since the boto move so quickly strobes would hinder the ability to capture a fleeting composition and get in the way since the animals are large and come very close. Good lighting w/strobe would require constant moving of the light source resulting in many missed photo ops.”
