Introducing the first dedicated professional UW Imaging facility in the Raja Ampat at a brand new resort–now open!
The Raja Ampat is known as a hot spot for underwater imaging and to this end renowned imaging professionals Claudia Pellarini and Leon Joubert of bittenbysharks introduce the only dedicated full service digital Underwater Imaging Studio in the region, Seacam approved. Based on-site at the brand new Raja4Divers resort on the spectacular Pulau Pef, the dynamic team offers on site expertise in a state-of-the-art user-friendly facility, with large iMac monitors, latest post processing software, Wi-Fi internet, a complete line of quality rentals, and full range of professional imaging services to all levels of shooters, including workshops, critique sessions, guided photo trekking, trip movies and production support. Along with Nikson Soor, one of the top dive guides in the Raja Ampat and an expert in finding the best photographic opportunities, underwater imaging enthusiasts now have it all in one location.
Open year round, the new resort Raja4Divers on the exclusive private Pulau Pef, is exceptionally well located in the bull’s-eye of biodiversity of central Raja Ampat, surrounded on all sides by the world’s richest reefs. The Imaging Studio on Pulau Pef, offers avid imaging enthusiasts the advantage of a combination of a wide variety of underwater imaging experiences during their trips as well as the particularly photogenic awe-inspiring topside scenery: with climbable hillocks for views, exotic fauna and flora, beaches, islets, mangroves, lagoons, ancient rock art and virgin jungle – all in one place. The simplest way to describe Pulau Pef would be, “a mini Raja Ampat all in one”.
The new Underwater Imaging facility is conveniently located for ease of equipment storage and preparation, photo/video work sessions or presentations; the design includes climate controlled facilities suitable for electronics and sensitive equipment and workspace to suit the most discerning photographer, group or production team; with organized individual set-up/charging stations, protective padded camera crates on the boats, and dedicated “camera taxis” for ease of transportation of equipment to and from the jetty, studio or bungalow. The Imaging Studio adds value for divers bringing their own imaging equipment, or those wishing to rent the latest imaging systems, learn, improve or simply ‘refine’ aspects of their photography, with expertise specially customized to their specific needs.
The Imaging Studio is operated by a highly personable and proactive team of imaging professionals/ PADI Instructors Claudia Pellarini and Leon Joubert who not only have a wide range of experience in the underwater imaging, production and service industries, but also considerable experience in the Raja Ampat area specifically. As a bonus, they utilise a unique hands-on approach for guaranteed results, and to top it all, they are also experienced PADI Instructors, with insight which can be invaluable to divers and photographers in refining the overall underwater imaging experience.
The most recent show-case of their work in the Raja Ampat, is in the coffee table book : “The Raja Ampat through the lens of…”
