Dive the World goes bi monthly

Dive the World magazine has announced that it plans to expand from its existing quarterly publishing rate, to a bi-monthly one. In effect there will be 6 issues per year from 2013. The publishers say this is due to the volume of interest from photographers in having their images published in the magazine. In addition, they will also now be offering an electronic version for iPad or computer, and a German language edition (in both forms).

DIVE THE WORLD is expanding

DIVE THE WORLD – The International Dive Magazine, which launched in January 2012, is currently producing its fourth issue to be published in October 2012. It has been a fantastic year so far, and things are about to get even more interesting as the people behind DIVE THE WORLD have three exciting bits of news to share. The magazine was originally intended to be published four times per year in English, with all issues produced in a paper version only. All of these factors will change over the next three months to give the magazine more issues, more publishing platforms and more languages.

Six issues:

Because we wanted to make sure that we could maintain the high standard of images and the overall quality of the magazine, we originally only planned to publish four yearly issues. After all, it takes a lot of effort and material to fill 150 pages with stunning images,” says Editor in Chief Jesper Kjøller. “But throughout the year, we’ve received so much interest from world-class underwater photographers wanting to contribute to the magazine that we decided we shouldn’t limit ourselves to four issues. We simply have so much fantastic material that we’re eager to share with the world.

Starting next year, DIVE THE WORLD will be a bi-monthly publication – subscribers and readers all over the world will receive a new issue every other month, with six issues published annually

Digital version:

DIVE THE WORLD was originally intended to exist on paper only, but the demand for a digital version was overwhelming. Since august 2012 DIVE THE WORLD has been available for download on your computer or iPad.

The printed version will always be our main focus, but it makes sense to exist in digital platforms, too. More and more, people are learning about the magazine and signing up for a subscription. But if you missed out on the first couple editions of DIVE THE WOLD, you can easily get these earlier issues through Paperton, our partner in digital publishing,” Jesper says. See the Paperton website for more details.

DIVE THE WORLD in German:

While European interest in the magazine has been generally good, German bookshops and newsstands have been somewhat reluctant to order larger quantities of the English magazine. Traditionally, Germans have preferred to read magazines in their own language.

Obviously, we want to share our vision with as many people as possible. And since we already produce our Scandinavian dive magazines in two languages (DYK is published in Danish and Swedish), we are already very comfortable with the work flow behind different language versions of the same publication.

DIVE THE WORLD is very happy to introduce Astrid Därr as the German edition’s Editor in Chief. From her office in Munich, Germany, Astrid will work very closely with the magazine’s editorial staff in Copenhagen.

In 2013, we look forward to publishing six annual issues across both print and digital platforms in both English and German, with the same editorial quality for each version,” Jesper concludes.
