DivePhotoGuide (DPG) has announced that Matt Weiss ([MattDPG]9http://wetpixel.com/forums/index.php?showuser=22981)), formerly the site’s Editor-in-Chief, has now assumed the mantle of Publisher and CEO of the company. Site founder, Jason Heller will remain as a strategic advisor and remarks:

DivePhotoGuide Announces Acquisition, New CEO and Plans for Growth.
New York, New York, October 10th 2011- DivePhotoGuide, a leading underwater photography media company, has announced that Matt Weiss, Editor-in-Chief, has become the new Publisher and CEO. Former publisher, Jason Heller, will remain involved as strategic adviser to the growing business.
Matt Weiss has been the editor of DivePhotoGuide.com since 2008, when he became the only full time underwater photography editor in the world. Matt’s passion and knowledge of underwater photography, combined with his in-depth knowledge of digital media, has been evident in the new content and strategy that has driven the popularity of DivePhotoGuide.com to reach an audience of over 50,000 monthly readers.
“This is an exciting time for us,” said Weiss. “While we plan to continue to operate DPG in a similar fashion as previously, with a strong focus on publishing original authoritative underwater photography content, we will also be adding new, innovative features and expanding into additional outlets as we enter the next phase of our evolution.”
In 2012 DPG will be rolling out a new series of columns, including a Photo of The Day feature, and plans to diversify its content with more articles on the mainstream facets of underwater photography, including fashion, commercial and conceptual imaging.
Weiss continues, “we are also excited about extending our reach through different platforms, with our upcoming quarterly print magazine, Scuba Diver Through The Lens, published in collaboration with Asian Geographic in Singapore, as well as a tablet Techniques Guide app. ”
The New York based underwater photography media company is primarily a web-based publication, with over 10,000 pages of published underwater imagery content, written and edited by industry authorities and several of the influential photographers working today.
