Environmental photographer dies while snorkeling Great Barrier Reef
Renowned photographer Gary Braasch died yesterday while snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef. A Nikon Behind the Lens environmental photographer, Braasch’s recent project surrounded the effects of climate change. His work has been published in the New York Times and National Geographic among others.
A press release from the Australian Museum stated the following regarding the incident: “Mr Braasch, 70, from Portland, Oregon, USA, was documenting climate change impacts on the Great Barrier Reef. He was snorkelling with a companion earlier this morning near Lizard Island when he was observed floating face down in the water.”
