Expedition seeks to decode sperm whale vocalizations
Outside has published an article about an innovative new expedition that is seeking to interpret the complex language codes of sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus). Over the next two years freediver Fred Buyle and Fabrice Schnoller, accompanied by a team of acoustic scientists from the University of Paris and the cetacean research group DAREWIN, will be carrying out research trips in the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans. In addition, they will be filming using a 360° camera, producing an immersive 3D experience.
The expedition is known as THINK! and is currently seeking funding on Indiegogo.
