Image: Alien Abstract by Daniel Selmeczi
Daniel Selmeczi captured this surreal image of a nautilus (Nautilus sp.) while diving in Palau. He describes the process he took in capturing the image:
“Firstly I made simple pictures, because everybody tends to focus on the well-known shell structures. However I soon wanted to find a different angle so I got as close as possible and shot directly from the front. I was fortunate that the line corals gave an unusual background for the picture.”
Daniel was shooting with a Nikon D300 in a Subal housing, with a Tokina 10-17mm at 17mm and lie with two Ikelite DS161 strobes.
Settings were 1/180 @ f8, ISO200.
