Wetpixel member Jeffrey de Guzman (tankado) has submitted an image of a snapping shrimp, tentatively identified as Synalpheus neomeris. Apparently, not much is known about this species beyond that, in common with many other coral symbionts, they seem to eat mucus secreted by soft corals, thus also ingesting all organic particles trapped within it. S neomeris typically lives in male-female pairs on one host, although you may occasionally encounter a few juveniles hanging around.

The image was taken at Anilao Batangas Philippines and Jeff was using a Nikon D800e, Nikon 105mm VR macro, Nauticam Housing, +10 Reefnet Subsee Diopter, Dual Sea and Sea YS-250 strobes and an I-torch Carbonic Focus Light. Camera settings were f40 @ 1/320, ISO 160.
