The Guardian reports that Japan’s bid to lift the international ban on commercial whaling has been rejected at the International Whaling Commission’s (IWC) congress in Brazil. The vote was 41 to 27, with Norway, Iceland, Cambodia, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Kenya, Cambodia and Morocco among others voting in favor of lifting the ban. Japan has now stated that they will now re-evaluate their membership in the organization.
