Nauticam receives Red Dot Awards

Nauticam International Managing Director and Wetpixel member Edward Lai, with Nauticam General Manager Jacqueline Lai received two Red Dot design awards at a ceremony held at Essen, Germany. Nauticam’s ND-D7000V housing and their White Balance Dome Port both received product design awards for 2012.

The Red Dot awards are carried out in three categories: The “red dot award: product design”, the “red dot award: communication design” and the “red dot award: design concept”. In 2011, there were more than 14,000 entries from over 70 countries registered. Both Nauticam products received awards in the Outdoor, Leisure and Sports Category. Nauticam is the first underwater housing manufacturer to have been recognized by the Red Dot’s panel of experts.

The products will form part of an exhibition at the Red Dot Design Museum.

Edward and Jacqueline could not resist doing some business during the ceremony. Here they are with Nikon executives Takami Tsuchida, Akira Nojima, and Ted Nakayama. I’m sure they were trying to find out Nikon’s plans for future camera designs!
