Out of the Blue: Galapagos Islands in 360 from the Washington Post
The Washington Post, in collaboration with the UNC School of Media and Journalism, has created a 360-degree tour of the Galapagos Islands, including underwater footage. By using 360-degree video, the hope is to show the natural beauty of the islands both above and below the islands to the public.
“The Galapagos Islands are host to an evolving species of land-dwellers. They’re called tourists.”
360-degree video was shot by Jay Heinz and Patrick Davison, produced by Steven King and photography by Patrick Davison.
“On the second dive, we noticed a funnel shape moving slowly through the water like a tornado. Thousands of black-striped salema flashed their silvery scales. Daniela swam into the column, and the fish swallowed her up. I stuck my head into the overcrowded school and the bodies parted, creating a wormhole into another world. I wriggled through and looked back at the portal. It had been sealed shut.”
