Research suggests coral reefs can be restored
The BBC is reporting on research by Israeli scientist Prof. Eugene Rosenberg that suggests that the outlook for the world’s coral reefs may not be as bleak as predicted.By introducing naturally occurring viruses or phages, Prof. Rosenberg has found a cure for the White Plague coral disease which has decimated reefs from Egypt to Florida. He feels that investment in the prevention or cure of disease may mitigate against the effects of global warming and ocean acidification.
