The results of the Nauticam China Online Underwater Photography Competition have been announced. From April to July, Chinese underwater photographers submitted a portfolio to a public voting and a panel of 5 judges. Many congratulations to Jim Chen of Taiwan for his award of first prize, and furthermore to all the other people in the placings.

Nauticam U/W Photographer of the Year 2014

The Winner of the Nauticam China Online Competition - Jim Chen from Taiwan.

During April to July 2014, amateur and professional underwater photographers from all over China submitted a portfolio of 3 digital images online. By the end of each month, 3 photographers were announced as the winners of that particular month, chosen both by the public votes and by a panel of 5 international judges.

In August, all monthly winners competed for the title “Nauticam Photographer of the Year 2014”. Online voters and a panel of 5 international judges selected Jim Chen from Taiwan as the winner.

2nd place goes to: Marco Chang from Taiwan.

3rd place goes to: Shih Wen Chie from Taiwan.

Nauticam Photographer of the Year, Jim Chen, won the opportunity to participate in the Eilat Red Sea competition and Underwater Photography Global Championship with no expenses! Flights, accommodation and diving expenses are all covered for Jim. All he needs to deliver now is a winning image…

2nd and 3rd prizes are vouchers of $500 to cover some of the photographers’ travel expenses to Eilat.

Eilat Red Sea, September 8-13, 2014

The world’s most famous underwater photo competition, Eilat Red Sea, will be on September 8-13, in Eilat. This year is especially festive as Eilat Red Sea celebrates its 10th anniversary! This is your chance for an exciting one-week break from daily routine in the crystal clear water of the Red Sea. Meet people, dive, photograph fish & models, party all night long and perhaps even win some valuable prizes, including a $10,000 USD check for the first prize! A new category, called the Underwater Photography Global Championship, invites photographers from the same country to team up and to submit a winning portfolio of 6 images. As part of our 10th anniversary celebrations, we’ve decided it’s about time a new Guinness Record is registered at the diving industry. And so, on September 12th, you’re invited to take part and support a new diving Guinness Record!

That Friday morning, we’ll be witnessing one of the most magnificent dives ever carried out. In an operation yet to be seen in the world, hundreds of divers, 26 diving instructors, 32 production members and 12 professional photographers, will all be diving together at the Satil wreck in Eilat, Israel.

Using a sophisticated technological setup, the dive will be live broadcasted on YouTube Live, enabling millions of viewers, online surfers and smart phone owners from all over the world, to take part in this extraordinary event. Click Here for a short video introducing the challenging setup.

The dive will take place on September 12th, 11:30 am GMT +2. The broadcast, also featuring the most exciting preparations before the dive, will begin at 11:00 am GMT +2.

Together, we’ll be breaking a new Guinness record of the largest audience for a live-streamed underwater event. Guinness has set an objective of half a million viewers in order to break the record. Come and help us make this happen!
