Scientist creates 3D scan catalog of fishes
A scientist at the University of Washington, Adam Summers is attempting to digitally 3D scan all 25,000 known species of fish. The scans are accomplished using a CT scanner and allow millimetre accurate comparisons between species and 3D prints of either body parts or whole fish.
There are currently 500 species in the catalog, and all the scans are available to download for free from the Open Science Network.
