Seaworld to continue orca shows
Contrary to many early reports, Seaworld is revising not ceasing its shows with captive orcas. The new strategy for its California based parks is that the company will replace that act with a more “informative” experience in a more natural setting that will carry a “conservation message inspiring people to act.”
Pressure is mounting on the company to cease keeping captive orcas completely. Its shares have been significantly devalued since the controversy erupted which, combined with significantly reduced visitor numbers, has forced the company to act. In addition, there are new state and federal attempts to curtail or outlaw the park’s orca programs.
