Stop press: Housing compatibility update
Most SLR shooters expect that when new camera models are released they will need to also upgrade their housing. Typically, the controls do not match. Wetpixel spent the day today at The Photography Show at the NEC, Birmingham, UK. There will be a full report posted here on Wetpixel soon, but we have some good news for would-be up graders.
Canon has confirmed that the 5Ds and 5Dr models share the same body as the the 5D Mark III, so they will fit into current housings. Thanks to Andrew Woodfin and Clifford Dan of Canon UK.
The newly released Nikon DX D7200 body was on display too and Wetpixel was able to not only compare it to the D7100, but thanks to Saeed Rashid (who just happened to have a D7100 housing at the show), we can confirm that the housings are compatible too. The test was carried out with a Nauticam housing and while it is not definite it seems likely that it will fit into other housing manufactures housings too.
Many thanks to Stewart Dunwell and the team from Nikon UK for taking time to help us set up the test!
