Subal announces housing for Olympus O-MD E-M1

Subal has announced the imminent release of their housing for the Olympus OM-D E-M1 mirrorless camera. It is compatible with a wide range of micro 4/3 lenses and can allows for strobe triggering via fiber-optic ports. It can be fitted with an optional bulkhead for electronic triggering.

The Subal EM1 will be available from June at a U.S.A. retail price of $3,150.00.

Technical Specifications:

The SUBAL EM1 housing is produced from a solid block of high grade-seawater-resistant aluminum. The housing is anodized, and put through a chemical hardening process. SUBAL is the only underwater housing manufacturer to use this patented, hard-coat anodizing. A 3-layer powder-coating is added, giving the SUBAL housing an elegant finish and further protecting it from the environment. All shafts, screws are made of high-alloy chrome-nickel steel, to extend operational lifetime. The advanced manufacturing process and high-grade materials ensure that your investment will last a lifetime.

The housing, like every other SUBAL housing, is equipped with the SUBAL Quick Lock closure system for maximum safety.

Optional Viewfinder Options:

SUBAL supplies a wide range of viewfinders to support the EM1 housing. For example the straight GS 180º viewfinder and the WS 45º enlarging viewfinder, excellent for macro shooting. The 30° prism viewfinder for video recording is also available.

Strobe Options:

Two fiber-optic ports are available to fire flashes from the Inon Z-240 or S-2000, Sea & Sea YS-D1 and YS-01. This system provides full accurate TTL flash mode. Optional bulkhead available on request for Nikonos V, Ikelite and S6.
