Activists take legal action to prevent mining on Bangka
Off the north end of Sulawesi Island in the Coral Triangle lies Bangka. Bangka borders a marine park that contains two world famous dive sites, Bunaken and Lembeh. This tiny island is at the heart of a conflict between a mining company hoping to extract iron ore and activists and dive operators who say that the impact to the surrounding coral reefs would be devastating.
