DaVinci Resolve 12.5 beta is available

Blackmagic have also released a beta version of DaVinci Resolve. Version 12.5 features a variable speed curve within the retiming tools, metadata is now displayed on the edit page, the performance of the multicam features has been improved, HDR grading tools have been added, and audio waveforms are visible in the source viewer.

Blackmagic Design ships 4K Video Assist

Black magic Design has announced at NAB that they are now shipping the 4K version of their Video Assist recorder/monitor. It can be added to any camera with an HDMI or SDI output and has a 7 inch monitor. Recording is to two SD cards in 10 Bit 4:2:2 ProRes and DNx formats.

Blackmagic Design has announced the release of Fusion 8 and Fusion 8 Studio visual effects and motion graphics software. This version is compatible with Windows and Mac and features a redesigned interface. The apps allow user to “pull keys, track objects, rotoscope, retouch images, animate titles, create amazing particle effects and much more, all in a true 3D workspace”.

Blackmagic Design announces new products

Blackmagic Design has announced a slew of new products. They have updated their URSA camera Mini version, offering 15 stops of dynamic range and 4.6K sensor options. Also new is the Micro Cinema camera, which is designed for “remote shooting”, for which I read underwater! The company are offering a monitoring/recording solution called the Blackmagic Video Assist and have updated Fusion and DaVinci Resolve.

Amphibico has released details of their Pocket Buddy housing for the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. It provides full access to all camera controls accessible from the housing’s grips which are angled at 15°. Aquatica will also be offering a battery pack for extended use underwater, as well as a vacuum leak detection system and multiple handle and light mounting options.

Nauticam has released details about their NA-BMCC housing for the Blackmagic Cinema camera that was showcased at DEMA in November. The housing gives access to the camera’s touch screen controls with important controls being placed on levers lose to the grips. The NA-BMCC can be supplied with an optional power packs and HD-SDI convertor.

Blackmagic Design unveils its Pocket Cinema Camera

Blackmagic Design has unveiled its Pocket Cinema Camera at NAB today. This features a Super 16mm sized sensor with a 1080 HD output, 13 stop exposure latitude, recording direct to an SD card in ProRes 422 or lossless 12 Bit Log RAW CinemaDNG formats and takes standard Micro 4/3s lenses. Its size and weight are similar to that of a compact camera and the camera’s specifications include remote control via LANC, so there may well be an easy way to incorporate controls into an underwater housing.
