Jack has used the combination on several big trips recently to Fiji, Yap and Palau, so has built up significant experience with it. He has experimented with lens choices and provides some insights and tips on how to get the best from the system
Seacam has released their housing for the Nikon D850. It features 5 M16 ports for strobe triggering or accessories, compatibility with Seacam’s magnifying viewfinders and their unique combined lever for accessing ISO and AF ON the left thumb.
Ikelite are shipping their housing for the Nikon D850. It features Ikelite’s new Dry Lock (DL) port system and ships with a vacuum valve. Electronic flash triggering is available, with TTL control with the addition of a circuit, hotshoe and Ikelite DS series strobes. Other strobes can be electrically triggered in manual mode. The housing is constructed of Ikelite’s proprietary white ABS-PC.
Subal has announced their housing for the Nikon D850. It offers ergonomic access to camera controls and functions, is anodized with a powder coated finish and is designed to be lighter than most Subal housings. Strobe triggering is via electrical or fiber optic with the Subal TTL V2 system. It is compatible with existing Subal ports.
Nauticam has announced their housing for the Nikon D850 SLR camera. The NA-D850 ships with a manual opto-electrical converter and there is an optional TTL version. The control layout features a redesigned AF mode lever and there is a double thumb lever accessing playback and Fn2 assignable controls.
Nikon has released the details of the new D850 FX SLR. It features a 45.7-megapixel CMOS sensor married to the EXPEED 5 processing engine. This gives a native ISO range of 64 to 25,600 and a frame rate of 7fps. Autofocus is the 153-point, Multi-Cam 20K systems from the D5/500 and the camera captures full frame 4K UHD at 24/30fps. As a part of the celebrations marking the company’s centenary, Nikon has trailed then release of anew FX format pro camera called the D850. As yet, there are scant concrete details beyond that it will be “next frontier in full-frame, high-resolution, high-speed SLR cameras.” As more official information becomes available, Wetpixel will keep updating this post.
