Our friends at the Sea Save Foundation are hard at work at CITES COP 19 in Panama City, Panama. Their efforts have paid off with the prospect of the trade in products from 113 marine species getting new protection. However, today and tomorrow are the plenary sessions, in which all the agreements reached over the proceeding 2 weeks are required to be ratified by the entire body.
Sea Save has launched a campaign to support the passage of the Shark Fin Sales Elimination Act. It aims to ban the buying and selling of shark fin within the US. The Act was passed through Congress during the last session, but the Senate took no action. One way to ensure that the Act gets the attention it deserves from politicians is to send your elected representative an email expressing your support.
The Sea Save annual charity auction is offering over 60 lots of amazing dive travel adventures, all at a bargain price, By bidding or purchasing one of the lots, you are also directly supporting Sea Save’s efforts to continue its critical mission, In 2019, the organization was able to mobilize support for a ban on the trade in 18 shark and ray species at CITES, which resulted in these species being protected under international law.
Sea Save is holding its annual online year-end auction. Now in its tenth year, it offers 58 lots of exotic travel packages from around the world. 100% of the money raised from the sale of the donated lots in the auction goes directly to the Sea Save Foundation.
