The Nature Conservancy has announced that The Bahamas Government has announced 15 new parks and three park expansions in the waters surrounding the islands. The marine protected areas surrounding The Bahamas now comprise over 11 million acres in total, with a goal of tripling protection of its marine and coastal areas by 2020 under the Caribbean Challenge Initiative.
