On a recent expedition to Mexico I had the opportunity to get in the water with and photograph some very large crocodiles. We were located at Banco Chinchorro, the western hemispheres largest coral atoll, whose mangroves are said to be home to a population of 700-1000 of these animals. We lived in a fisherman’s hut with no running water or electricity mere feet above these crocodile infested waters. Adventure travel at it’s finest! Being in the water with these modern day dinosaurs was nothing short of spectacular. Below are some of my favourite images from this amazing experience. Enjoy.

All images were taken in Chinchorro Banks, Mexico, and are of the American salt water crocodile (Crocodylus acutus). They were shot with a Nikon D800 in an Aquatica housing with Sigma 15 fisheye, except for the surface shot of me with the crocodile, which was shot by my friend Jose Alejandro.
