Pixelmator has announced the imminent release of Pixelmator Pro. A dedicated image editing app, it offers non destructive editing and, by utilising machine learning, automates some functions like horizon correction, automatic layer naming, portrait detection, object removal and quick selections. Pixelmator Pro has also been designed to offer fast performance, using Metal 2, Core Image, and OpenGL.

Results: Monterey Shootout 2017

The annual Monterey Shootout was held at Monterey, California from 25 to 27 August. Organized by Backscatter and Northern California Underwater Photographic Society, the event attracted over 137 entrants. The shootout hosted the now infamous cocktail party and seminars. Congratulations to Clinton Bauder for his winning jellyfish image, to Kate Vylet for her winning macro video entry and to all those among the placings.

Issue 98 of UwP magazine is available

Underwater Photography (UwP) magazine issue 98 is now available to download. The September/October issue features reviews of the Olympus EM-1 Mark II, the Retra Flash, Olympus 30mm macro lens and Inon UCL-167. It also includes an interview with Anders Nyberg and technique articles about using filters for underwater archeology and conservation photography. Locations discussed include the Alphonse Group, MCZ, St Pierre and marine parks.

Trailer for SDUFEX 2017 Photo

Trailer for SDUFEX 2017

The San Diego UnderSea Film Exhibition (SDUFEX) has released a trailer for the 2017 show. The exhibition will take place Friday and Saturday evenings, October 6th and 7th, 2017 at the Irwin M. Jacobs Qualcomm Hall in San Diego, California. The top three films as selected by an audience vote each night will be awarded prizes. The films with the highest number of votes each night will be awarded cash prizes of $500, $250, and $100 respectively for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
