Sony unveils the RX0 action cam
Sony has announced a new pro level action cam called the RX0. It has a 1-inch, 15.3-megapixel Exmor RS sensor and features internal recording of XAVC or AVCHD format HD footage at up to 960/1000 fps super slow motion. Clean 4K is available via HDMI. ISO range is selectable from 80 to 12800 and the display features peaking to help critical focus. The RX0 is compact and lightweight and is waterproof to 10m (33 ft). The MPK-HSR1 housing extends the depth rating to 100m (330 ft).
Olympus announces OM-D E-M10 Mark III
Olympus has announced the details of the entry level OM-D E-M10 Mark III mirrorless camera. It features a Micro Four Thirds 16MP Live MOS sensor, TruePic VIII Image Processor and 5-Axis Image Stabilization. Video recording is available in 4K at up to 30fps, and HD at 60fps.
Panasonic announces firmware update for GH5
Panasonic has announced a firmware update for the GH5 mirrorless camera. The update will be available from the “end of September” and will offer 400Mbps All-I compression options in 4K (200Mbps in 1080), higher resolution 4:3 video capture for shooting with anamorphic lenses and a Hybrid Log Gamma shooting mode. The update will also offer improvements in AF performance and stabilization modes.
UW Technics ships TTL converter for Canon
UW Technics are shipping their Internal TTL-Converter (for Canon) designed for use with Nauticam housings. This circuit can be retro fitted to Nauticam NA-5Dm4, NA-7Dm2, NA-5DsR, NA-1DX housings and gives full TTL (eTTL) flash control with Inon Z-240, Sea&Sea YS-250, YS-D1 and YS-D2 along with Ikelite DS-161 and DS-160. It supports both electrical and optical triggering.
Canon announces the EOS M100 mirrorless camera
Canon has announced the EOS M100 entry level mirrorless camera. It features a 24.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and DIGIC 7 processor, which gives a native ISO range of 100 to 25,600. It also has Dual Pixel CMOS AF and video recording at 1080/60p video. Lens compatibility includes EF-M lenses, along with EF and EF-S lenses via the use of the optional EF-EOS M Mount Adapter.
Seacam announces strobe arm floats
Seacam has released circular foam buoyancy floats that are compatible with their strobe arms. Each float segment has 200 g (0.44 lbs.) of positive buoyancy. The foam is crush resistant down to a depth of 200 m (655 ft.)
Final Cut Pro 7 incompatible with macOS High Sierra
Apple has announced that legacy video editing application, Final Cut Pro 7n (FCP7), will not be supported by the forthcoming macOS High Sierra. According to Cinema5D, Apple has sent out an email to FCP7 users announcing the compatibility information and suggesting that users upgrade to Final Cut Pro X. It is important to note that once users upgrade to the new OS, they will lose access to existing FCP7 project files too.
Ikelite ships housing for EOS M6
Ikelite are shipping their housing for the Canon EOS M6 mirrorless camera. Constructed of white ABS-PC, the housing features an updates shutter lever and the “*” button is located under a thumb lever. The housing’s push buttons have been redesigned and the video record is anodized red to increase its visibility.
