Olympus announces OM-D E-M1 Mark II

Olympus has announced details of their OM-D E-M1 Mark II mirrorless camera. It features a 20.4 MP sensor with 121 on chip phase and contrast AF sensors. Image processing is via a new TruePic VIII Image Processor and its native ISO range is up to 6400. It has 5 axis image stabilization in both still and video modes, with the latter being available at full 4K resolution at 24p. Olympus will offer a housing for the camera too.

Inon has announced its UWH1 SD Mount base for use with the Sony 4K FDR-X3000 action camera in its MPK-UWH1 housing. This allows the use of Inon’s SD Semi Fisheye Conversion (UFL-G140) and SD Wide Close-up (UCL-G165) lenses with the camera. The base is supplied with an SD Mount Base that allows arms, handles and tripods to be attached.

World’s Largest MPA for Ross Sea

New Scientist reports that from December 2017, Antartica’s Ross Sea will be the site of the world’s largest Marine Protected Area (MPA). 1.55 million square kilometers (59845 square miles) of the sea will become a “no take zone” protecting Adelie penguins, Antarctic petrels, Weddell seals, toothfish and minke whales as well as the krill that visiting animals feed on.
