Nikon announces firmware updates for D4S, D810 and D750 cameras
Nikon has announced firmware updates for its D4S, D810 and D750 cameras. This will provide support for timecode imprinting and recording control functions via HDMI. This update will allow more efficient use of Atomos Shogun or Ninja-2 external video recorders in capturing uncompressed data from the cameras.
American Airlines announces it will no longer ship shark fins
In an announcement via twitter earlier today, American Airlines announced that it will no longer ship shark fins. Conservation organizations Turtle Island Restoration Network and PRETOMA found evidence that the airlines were complicit in the illegal transport of protected hammerhead shark fins from Costa Rica to Hong Kong, with a touchdown on US soil, which is illegal under federal law.
Apple releases Photos app
Incorporated into the 10.10.3 OS update, Apple has released their new Photos app. Designed to integrate with iOS devices, and to replace iPhoto and Aperture, the new app accesses images stored on iCloud Photo Library. It incorporates editing tools including white balance, histogram, color and sharpening.
Canon updates the EOS C300 digital cinema camera
Canon has announced the C300 Mark II digital cinema camera. It is capable of recording 10-bit 4:2:2 files internally at up to 410Mbps in 4K (3840 or 4096), or 10/12-bit 4:4:4 files in 2K/Full HD with up to 15 stops of dynamic range via the new Canon Log2 technology.
Canon announces the XC10 4K camcorder
Canon has announced the release of the XC10 4K video and stills camera. It has a fixed optical zoom lens with image stabilzation and a 1” sensor producing 12MP stills and UHDTV standard (3840 x 2160) 4K footage to an internal CFast 2.0™¹ card at up to 305Mbps.
AbelCine announces workshop with Gates
Gates Underwater Products owner, John Ellerbrock, along with filmmaker Ron Lagerlof are running a two-day workshop covering the use of Gates products at AbelCine, Los Angeles over 30 April and 1 May.
Mucky Secrets available on DVD
Wetpixel member Nick Hope of Bubble Vision has released his film “Mucky Secrets - The Marine Creatures of the Lembeh Straits” as a DVD. Running to 92 minutes, the film offers lots of information about the Straits, its marine biology and the many weird critters that reside there.
