Late availability: Wetpixel Eastern Fields, PNG trip
We have some late availability for the Wetpixel Eastern Fields, Papua New Guinea expedition. This trip was heavily oversubscribed when we started marketing it, so these represent a great opportunity to dive some of the least spoilt reef systems in the world. They are practically undived and they are all teeming with marine life. It will be based on MV Golden Dawn
The trip runs from 10-20 January 2012 and the spaces that have opened up are for a single male sharing a room, and for a single female, also sharing a cabin. If you are interested, please get in contact with Dan Baldocchi as soon as possible.
DIVE publishes: World Without Sharks
The UK’s DIVE Magazine has published “World Without Sharks” as its cover feature this month. The nine page Water Column special feature in words and images, written by DIVE’s World Editor and Wetpixel member Douglas David Seifert, is a cautionary report on the effects of removing top level predators from the ecosystem and the ensuing collapse that occurs. Rather than sugar-coating the issues, the feature gives an unflinching view of the ongoing and future crisis for sharks, the ocean and ultimately, for mankind.
The article is available to view online and at DEMA in Orlando on the Shark Savers Booth (2216).

The great Kittiwake camera mystery
Sunset House has reported about a camera that has washed ashore at Crescent Beach, St. John’s County, Florida. The barnacle-encrusted SeaLife point and shoot camera was found by Mike Golubovich, who works for St. John’s Country Beach Services in St. Augustine and contains 153 images:
“The camera contains an assortment of images including reef fish, coral, divers, the mermaid statue, and the Kittiwake dive site – a photo of the placard on the wreck,” Mr. Golubovich said.
The mystery is firstly has the camera travelled from the Caymans to Florida, and secondly, to whom does it belong? Sunset House has published the images from the camera on their Facebook page; if you recognize them, please get in touch.
