Tobias Friedrich Releases Underwater Lightroom presets
Underwater photographer Tobias Friedrich has released two sets of Lightroom presets, tailored explicitly for underwater images. Catering for either wide angle or macro images, each set has seven modules, designed to help photographers achieve great photos as quickly as possible.
Aquatica revises pricing strategy
Aquatica has announced a series of staggered discounts on its products. Between now and 31 July, products bought from Aquatica or via its dealers will attract a 20% discount, from 1 August through 31 October, 15%, and from 1 November through 30 April 2021, 10%.
Underwater Tour Awards go virtual
The Underwater Tour has announced that their annual photo contest will now be held online. Entries open on 12 May and will close on 24 July. Voting for the “People’s Choice Awards” will start on 12 July and finish on 24 July, before an online awards ceremony on 2 August.
DAN extends policies for 90 days
DAN has announced that it will extend the policy term by 90 days for current insureds under its professional, group professional, and general liability insurance policies. This will apply to all policies that were in place on 1 May. There is a number of options available for those wishing to take out new policies too.
Results: Under Bath Water Photographer of the Year
The results of the 2020 Under Bathwater Photographer of the Year contest have been published by organizer Fourth Element The overall winner is Mikko Passi, with his image entitled “Greetings from the North Pole.” He creatively used empty Sofnolime drums to create an artificial iceberg, along with his daughter’s seal friend “Kuutti.”
Dive into the Pink Announces Sharing Our Air Photo Contest
Dive into the Pink has announced its 2020 “Sharing our Air” photo contest. This one-time event is designed to raise funds to support collaborative research between Duke Dive Medicine and Diver’s Alert Network on the long-term effects of COVID-19 infection on diver fitness.
May/June issue of Underwater Photography Magazine is available
Issue 114 of Underwater Photography magazine is now available to download. It features a review of the Nauticam WWL-1 with Sony full frame cameras and the latest edition of The Underwater Photographer. It also has location articles about Yap, the Museo Atlantico and South Devon, a primer on marlin imagery, and showcases of the winners of the DEEP Indonesia and Wetpixel/DPG Masters imaging contests.
Reef ID Books updates Crustacean Field Guide
Reef ID Books has released their updated field guide to the “Coral Reef Crustaceans from Red Sea to Papua.” It describes over 1140 species, of which 250 are new to this edition. Of the species listed, 500 have never been listed in a field guide.
