AbelCine announces workshop with Gates

Wetpixel member Nick Hope of Bubble Vision has released his film “Mucky Secrets - The Marine Creatures of the Lembeh Straits” as a DVD. Running to 92 minutes, the film offers lots of information about the Straits, its marine biology and the many weird critters that reside there.
Olympus incorporated 5 axis image stabilization into their OM-D E-M5 mirrorless camera back in 2012. Micro 4/3rds Photography has attached a LUMIX GH4 with a Samyang 7.5mm lens to the front of an OM-D EM5 II camera (without a lens) and recorded the actual movement of the sensor correcting camera movements.

Wild Oceans continues to catalog marine behavior from Bikini Reef, Sodwana Bay, South Africa in this week’s episode. It features footage of an apparent symbiotic relationship between shrimps and black-cheek moray eels (Gymnothorax breedeni) and the plethora of shrimp varieties on the reef. A reef manta ray (Manta alfredi) also pays a visit.
Ikelite has announced new housings for the Canon PowerShot ELPH 170 IS/IXUS 170 and ELPH 160/IXUS 160 compact cameras. Featuring the companies signature polycarbonate construction, both are equipped with integrated flash diffusers and 67mm threads on the lens ports to facilitate the use of wet lenses, filters and diopters.
The Atkins CIWEM Environmental Photographer of the Year is making a final call for entries. The contest closes on 7 April at 17:00 GMT. The contest offers: “an opportunity for photographers to share images of environmental and social issues with international audiences, and to enhance our understanding of the causes, consequences and solutions to climate change and social inequality”.
The team at Magic Lantern have successfully managed to make Linux run on a Canon SLR camera. So far, it has been successfully tested to work on EOS 60D, 600D, 7D, 5D Mark II, and 5D Mark III. Previously, Magic Lantern had piggy-backed their software on top of the existing Canon firmware.
During DEMA 2014, Gates Underwater Products sponsored Ron Lagerlof to present a session on 4K imaging at the Imagining Resource Centre. Entitled “Not all 4K is 4K”, he explains what 4K is, overviews some of the devices that are capable of capturing it, outlines some workflow ideas and lists the potential advantages of using it.
