Peta Pixel has published Daan Verhoeven’s underwater portrait series of people plunging into 4°C water. The tank of water was at the free diving world championships in Turku, Finland. He was able to set up in the tank and captured the moment of shock on the competitors faces as they submerged into the icy cold water.

Verhoeven is a professional underwater photographer and specializes in free divers.
