Researchers seek input for AI underwater imagery project
UK based academic researchers and underwater photographers, Simon Emberton and Chris Simons, are seeking input into a project that combines the use of AI and the enhancement of underwater imagery. In order to further their research, they are wanting to find out how individuals are carrying out their post processing.
Major earthquake impacts Indonesia
A series of major earthquakes have hit the Indonesian island of Lombok, with tremors being felt on the neighboring island of Bali. The most recent 6.9 magnitude quake has caused 98 fatalities in Lombok, with over 200 injured and 20,000 displaced.
Isotta ships housing for Nikon D7500
Isotta has announced that their housing for the Nikon D7500 camera is now available. The aluminum housing has adjustable handles and the company’s single hand rotary closure. There is a wide range of ports available and strobe triggering is via fiber optic (using the camera’s integral flash) or via Nikonos bulkheads
Recsea ships housing for Canon G1 X Mark III
Recsea has announced that they are shipping their housing for the Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark III compact camera. Constructed of aluminum, it has a fixed lens port, with an optional M67 accessory thread ring and access to front, rear, control ring and exposure combination dials. The WHC-G1XMkIII can be fitted with Recsea’s optional Airlock Vacuum System
Ikelite announces housing for Sony RX100 Mark IV
Ikelite has announced their housing for the Sony RX100 Mark VI. Constructed of ABS-PC, it offers fiber optic strobe triggering and there is an optional variety of adaptors for M67 lenses and a specific conversion Wide Angle Ports designed for conversion lenses designed for use with 28mm lenses.

Cocos MPA fails to be enacted
National Geographic reports that the 4,000-square-mile expansion of the marine protected area (MPA) around the extraordinarily biodiverse waters of Cocos Island National Park committed to by former Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solís failed to be enacted. The report states that this was due to pressure from local fishing interests.
