UwP Issue 125 Available
Issue 125 of Underwater Photography magazine (UwP) is now available to download. It has an editor’s selection of images from UPY 2022, reviews of the Marelux Sony a1 and Nikon Z50, techniques for tech and free diving, and an overview of the whale shark aggregation at Isla Mujeres. Travel includes Jordan, South Africa, and Mozambique and there is a quiz on obscure marine species.
Wetpixel Live: Is The SLR Dead?
Spurred on by the news that Nikon has ceased the supply of the D500, Alex and Adam discuss whether this means the end of SLR cameras for underwater photographers. They list the pros and cons of SLR and mirrorless cameras and chat about how these can benefit or hinder them when they are used underwater and how the drive to make SLR owners switch to a new system is also in the camera manufacturer’s interests.
Call For Entries: Lens Beyond Ocean Competition
The Malaysian International Diving Exhibition has announced that its “Lens Beyond Ocean” underwater photo competition is open for entries. It offers 11 categories, including video and “Best of Malaysia.” The latter is open to Malaysian photographers only. The deadline for all entries is 30 April.
Trioplan 100 Available in RF and Z Mounts
Soap bubble bokeh lovers rejoice! Meyer Optic Görlitz has announced that the venerable Trioplan 100 f/2.8 II is now available with Canon RF and Nikon Z mounts. Previously available mount options include Sony E mount, along with Leica L, Canon EF and Nikon F mounts. As per the other mounts, the lens is manual focus with a minimum focus distance of 0.9m (requiring the use of a close-up lens).

Panasonic Announces LUMIX GH6
Panasonic has announced the long-awaited LUMIX DC-GH6 micro four-thirds mirrorless camera. It offers ProRes 422 HQ and 422 internal recording and 5.7K at ups to 60p or unlimited UHD 10-Bit 4:2:0 at 120fps. The sensor is 25MP with a native ISO range of 100-25600 via a new Venus image processor. Forthcoming firmware updates will allow for direct recording to SSD via USB and HDMI out at 2.1 standards.
