Wetpixel Live: Underwater Image Makers Guide to New Cameras
There have been a plethora of new cameras announced over the last few months, so in this episode of Wetpixel Live, Alex and Adam chat through the latest camera options for underwater image-makers. Specifically, they discuss the EOS R series, Nikon Z9, Sony a1, OM Digital OM-1, and Panasonic GH6 and how their specifications suggest that they are useful for underwater image-makers.
Panasonic Announces LUMIX GH6
Panasonic has announced the long-awaited LUMIX DC-GH6 micro four-thirds mirrorless camera. It offers ProRes 422 HQ and 422 internal recording and 5.7K at ups to 60p or unlimited UHD 10-Bit 4:2:0 at 120fps. The sensor is 25MP with a native ISO range of 100-25600 via a new Venus image processor. Forthcoming firmware updates will allow for direct recording to SSD via USB and HDMI out at 2.1 standards.
RED Ships 2TB Pro CF express card
RED is now shipping their long-awaited certified 2TB high capacity CFexpress Type B card to its range of recording media for the V-RAPTOR. The RED PRO CF express 2TB offers underwater filmmakers a reasonable recording time.
Tokina Announces 8mm Fish Eye for Sony E Mount
Tokina has announced the 8 mm SZ f/2.8 Fish Eye lens for Sony E and Fuji X mounts. Although primarily designed for APS-C sized sensor cameras, Tokina notes that it is possible to remove the lens hood to use them as circular fisheye lenses with full-frame cameras. The minimum focus distance is 10 cm (3.9 in)
Wetpixel Live: UPY 2022
Among the events celebrated in the past few weeks, was the announcement of the results of the 2021 Underwater Photographer of the Year contest. In the spirit of providing constructive feedback to the Wetpixel community, Alex and Adam review all the category winners and discuss the changes to the judging panel.

Erin Quigley and the talented team at Go Ask Erin are returning with another free live tutorial looking deeper into Lightroom’s Masking Panel. There will be two identical sessions on 25 February, the first at 11.00 am PST and the second at 5.00 pm PST. Registration is required.
