Digital Rev has published a list of their top ten underwater photography tips. The list was compiled by Hannah Scott who spoke to several professional underwater photographers and got their top tips. Contributing photographers included David Doubilet, Benjamin von Wong, and Matt Draper.
Keldan announces the Video 8X CRI and updates to existing lights
Keldan, via their US distributer, has announced a new video light, and updates to two existing models. The Video 8X CRI offers 8,000 Lumen output with a color rendering index of 96. The Video 8X Flux has ben upgraded to offer 12,000 Lumen output and the Video 4X to 7,000.
Wes Skiles’ widow seeks $25M in wrongful death lawsuit
Opening statements were made in the trial of Wes Skiles’ widow, Terri Skiles, versus Dive Rite Express, owned by Lamartek Inc. Terri Skiles is seeking $25 million in damages, claiming the manufacturer was negligent in testing the safety of the rebreather her husband was using when he drowned off Boynton Beach while filming Goliath Grouper in 2010.

Great White Shark Mary Lee returns to Jersey Shore
A well known individual Great White shark, Mary Lee, has returned to the Jersey Shore to presumably feed. Researchers have tracker her movements for four years now since they originally tagged her off Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The nearly 3,500 pound female shark has swam nearly 34,000 miles since originally being tagged. Image from Shutterstock.
Call for entries: San Diego UnderSea Film Exhibition
The Call for Entries for the 2016 San Diego UnderSea Film Exhibition (SDUFEX) has been posted. The seventeenth annual event is being held on 7 and 8 October and introduces two new features. A $500 prize will be awarded on each of the two nights for the film that the audience votes as the best of that evening. In addition, there will be a new category of films up to 10 minutes long. SDUFEX’s venue is the Irwin M Jacobs Qualcomm Hall in San Diego.

Congratulations to wildlife champion, naturalist and broadcaster, Sir David Attenborough, on the occasion of his ninetieth birthday. He has been synonymous with the very best of wildlife program making for over 60 years. Perhaps best known for the BBC’s Life Collection, he has been involved with over 100 wildlife related programs over a career spanning almost 7 decades.
