Adobe Releases Lightroom Version 11.0
Adobe has released significant updates to Lightroom Classic. Version 11.0 has a new masking panel, automatic sky or subject selection, improved metadata controls, and batch edit improvement. Make can be created using a brush, linear or radial gradients, color range, luminance range and depth. The subject or sky selection uses AI to analyze images and automatically add selections.
Action Camera Underwater Guide Available
Dived Up has released a new book that offers techniques for underwater image makers using GoPro, Paralenz, and Sealife style action cameras. Written by Jeff Goodman, the book concludes with two exercises that offer an opportunity to put the theory into practice.
Aquatica Ships Housing for Sony a1
The folks at Aquatica have announced their housing for the Sony a1 mirrorless camera. It offers access to all camera controls and is compatible with all Aquatica’s ports. It ships with the complete Surveyor vacuum system as standard and is offered with Nikonos, Ikelite, or fiber optic strobe triggering options.
Sony Announces A7IV Full Frame Mirrorless camera
Sony has just announced the Alpha A7IV full frame mirrorless camera. It has a 33 MP sensor with the BIONZ XR processor. It has a native ISO range of 50-204800, records to UHS-II SD and CF Express Type A cards, and has 759 on-sensor focus points. It offers 4K video at 60p 10-bit 4:2:2.
Boxfish Luna Underwater Drone offers 4K ProRes Raw
Boxfish Research has announced that the Luna underwater drone now offers the option of capturing ProRes RAW at 30 fps. It has either a Sony a7s3 or a1 camera, which feeds out to the surface control console via umbilical for recording, monitoring, and adjusting exposure settings.
Review: Backscatter Backscatter Mini Flash and Optical Snoot by Morten Bjorn Larsen
Danish photographer Morten Bjorn Larsen kindly provides a synopsis of his experiences of using the Backscatter Mini Flash and Optical Snoot to the Wetpixel community. He lists several distinct usage categories for the flash, including subject separation, different beam sizes, oval cards, framing subjects, and wide angle. He notes that he has found the flash combination to be both versatile and easy to use.
