Wetpixel moderator Mike Veitch has announced the establishment of the Bali School of Underwater Photography. It offers a variety of classes for underwater photographers ranging from a 2 day session to complete dive safaris around Bali.
Whale Sharks 2014: Trip report
The annual Wetpixel Whale Shark Expedition starts today, with the participants gathering in Isla Mujeres and setting out for our first day on the water tomorrow. FIX announces its Neo Mini focus light
FIX has announced the release of their Neo Mini 500 focus light. This features both red and white light modes, adjustable through 4 output levels and momentarily cuts off automatically when it detects a flash. It has a battery status indicator and can recharged via USB, or use disposable CR123 batteries.
The Sinking World of Andreas Franke
The Sinking World by Andreas Franke is an exhibit normally 90 feet underwater. However, this exhibit will be on dry land in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea from July 25 - September 21, 2014.
Aquatica unveils the AGH4 housing
Aquatica has released details of their forthcoming housing for the Panasonic LUMIX GH4 mirrorless camera. It features a left thumb operated lever for controlling ISO and a “silky smooth” geared zoom/follow focus dial. The AGH4 also has the shutter release, video record lever, aperture control, shutter knobs and AE/AF LOCK lever on the right.
Nikon D810 testing on Wetpixel
The Nikon D810 started shipping last week, and we are proud to report that we should have one with us during the Wetpixel Whale Sharks expedition, which begins on 26 July. the plentiful whale sharks at Isla Mujeres will also provide excellent subjects for testing the cameras underwater performance. We will be posting updates from the trip in the forum so please check back often.
RIP John Petty
Wetpixel member John E Petty (63) has been lost following a dive off Tiger Beach, Bahamas. Wetpixel would like to send our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends, and we are shocked and saddened by the loss of one of our own. If people wish to leave comments, thoughts and condolences, there is a thread on the forum.
