AOI has announced their UH-OM1 housing for the OM Systems OM-1 camera. Designed to be light and compact, the housing offers port support for popular underwater lenses, an integrated optical strobe trigger, and an integrated vacuum system.
Sea&Sea Announces Housing for Sony Alpha Series
Sea&Sea has announced a universal housing for Sony Alpha series cameras. The MDX-au is currently compatible with the a7 Mark IV, a7R Mark IV, a7S Mark III, a9 Mark II, and a1, although there are modifications and limitations with some models (see below). The housing utilizes Sea&Sea’s MDX ports, and ships with a vacuum system, and there are a number of electronic and optical strobe triggering options available.
Guadalupe Biosphere Closed for 2022 Season
Horizon Charters has announced that the 2021 closure of the Guadalupe Island Biosphere will be extended through the 2022 season. This will affect any planned shark diving charters. The company has appealed against the closure, but this was overruled by a federal judge. They also stress that other charter companies are also separately appealing the decision, but suspect that given their unsuccessful appeal, this will be the precedent applied to all similar appeals.

Keldan has announced that they are now shipping barn door light shapers for their 4X and 8X/XR series video lights. Designed to be used underwater, they have 4 hinged doors that can be changed to shape the light to suit creative requirements.
Wetpixel Live: Preparing Images for Publication
Alex and Adam discuss how selecting and preparing images for stock libraries and publication is a different process from that of sharing them online. Specifically, some of the newer editing techniques are seen as potentially compromising image quality too much, and extreme edits of most descriptions are discouraged, with the emphasis being on providing images that are largely satisfactory in camera.
Article Claims Nikon to exit SLR Market
An article published in the Japanese business publication, Nikkei has stated that it has learned that Nikon will “withdraw from the single-lens reflex camera business and shift toward digital offerings amid intensifying competition from smartphone cameras.” This was swiftly followed by a statement from Nikon disabusing the article. The general trend toward fiber optic strobe triggering places great reliance on the circuit boards that generate the flash signal, and photographers need to consider how to build some resilience in the field.
