Live Reports: Atlantis ImageMakers 2019
Wetpixel Editor, Adam Hanlon, is at the annual Atlantis ImageMakers event. This is an annual tip run by the owners of Atlantis Dive Resorts and Liveaboard and their imaging ambassador, Marty Snyderman. It aims to showcase the photographic and video opportunities that exist at Atlantis’s two properties in the Philippines, namely Atlantis Dumaguete and Puerto Galera. Model Shoot at 27 Meters by Adam Leaders
Adam Leaders of AdLe Photo describes two shoots he undertook recently with model Julia Pretzel on a wall and a wreck in the Gulf of Thailand. The pair describe the challenges of setting up and creating images like these, particularly compounded by the depth and environmental conditions. The images are stunning!
West Papua wins Global Conservation Hero Award
The Bird’s Head Seascape reports that Indonesia’s West Papua Province (which includes Raja Ampat, Triton Bay and Cenderwasih Bay) was awarded the Global Conservation Hero Award by Conservation International at the organization’s annual gala at Milk Studios in Los Angeles, California on 8 June. In March this year, the West Papua parliament approved legislation that will make West Papua the country’s first-ever conservation province.
Call for entries: Think Pink 2019
The 2019 Think Pink Photo contest is open for entries. The competition seeks pink themed images and the proceeds are donated to charities and projects supporting the fight against breast cancer. The deadline for entries is 12 July.
Underwater Tribe Podcasts: Episode 13 featuring Bertie Gekoski
Wetpixel Moderator, Mike Veitch has released episode 13 of the Underwater Tribe Diving and Adventure Podcast series. It features Aaron “Bertie” Gekoski, who is a wildlife photographer and television presenter who specializes in exposing the cruel treatment of wildlife. Aaron joins us in the studio to discuss how he became involved in this field along with a little of his personal history. Stay tuned for the images at the end to see exactly what happens in the wildlife tourism industry.
Ikelite releases TTL converter for Olympus and Panasonic
Ikelite has released an external TTL converter for use with Olympus and Panasonic cameras. It is available in two versions; with either a Nikonos N5 or an Ikelite ICS-5 housing connection. The former is designed for use with photographers that have Nikonos bulkheads installed on their housings. Ikelite is also offering a package that includes the ICS-5 converter with an Ikelite PT-1 hotshoe to allow users to upgrade Ikelite housings.
Ikelite announces housing for Panasonic S1 series cameras
Ikelite has announced that they will be shipping a 200DL housing for the Panasonic LUMIX S1 and S1R full frame mirrorless cameras. It offers manual or (optional) TTL strobe control and ships with an M16 vacuum valve. The Dry Lock (DL) port system offers support for most popular lenses.
DxO releases version 2 of the Nik Collection
DxO has released version 2 of the Nik Collection. The update features over 40 new “one-click” styles along with support for high-resolution monitors in Windows. It is now bundled with DxO’s PhotoLab 2.3 ESSENTIAL Edition, allowing RAW editing options.
