Blackmagic Pocket Camera gets RAW support
Blackmagic Design has announced a firmware update that adds support for Blackmagic RAW to the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. Firmware 6.2 offers the options of 3:1, 5:1, 8:1 and 12:1 constant bit-rate recording or between constant quality Q0 and Q5 recording in a RAW format. Blackmagic RAW can be edited in DaVinci Resolve or a sidecar file can be generated which allows the footage to be edited in other applications.
Gates releases details of housing for RED TOUCH 7” monitor
Gates Underwater Products has published details of their housing for the RED PRO TOUCH 7” monitor. Featuring a cable with a “pass-through” design, the housing is slightly buoyant in the water. It has four assignable control buttons, and the monitor is powered from the camera.
Gates announces adaptor kit for Laowa probe lens
Gates Underwater Products has announced the details of an adaptor kit that allows the use of the Laowa 24 mm Probe lens with their Pro Explore and Pro Action housings. Waterproof to 30 m (90 ft), the kit has focus and iris gears that map these control sent the housings and stackable port ring adapter to seal around the Laowa lens barrel. The lens can be used with full frame and larger sensors like RED Monster.
Hidden Treasures, Guam’s Marine Preserves updated for 2019
In addition to his guidebooks, author Tim Rock has also released the third edition of his book “Hidden Treasures, Guam’s Marine Preserves for 2019.” The new edition features additional photos and information.

Tim Rock has updated his diving guides to Palau & Yap, Truk Lagoon, Pohnpei & Kosrae, Guam & the Mariana Islands along the guides he wrote in combination with Simon Pridmore to Bali, Raja Ampat & Northeast Indonesia.
UwP Magazine issue 107 is available
The March/April issue of Underwater Photography magazine (UWP) is available to download. Issue 107 features a review of the Nauticam MWL-1, and articles about silky sharks in Fiji, using snoots and Indonesia’s Banda Sea. Competitions are heavily featured, with the results and winning images of both Underwater Photographer of the Year and Ocean Art being published.
Samsung 2019 theme features underwater footage shot by Scubazoo
Samsung’s 2019 theme “Over the Horizon” features underwater video of free diver Ai Futaki and the plentiful underwater life of Sipadan, Malaysia shot by Scubazoo’s Simon Enderby. The theme is arranged by Steven Price and was recorded at London’s iconic Abby Road Studios.
Call for entries: UM 2019 Underwater Photo Contest
The University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science is now accepting entries for its 2019 underwater photography contest. It is only open to individuals that earn less than 20% of their income from photography and the deadline is April 5, 2019.
