Review: Wet Close Up Lenses
Wetpixel member and blogger Interceptor 121 aka Massimo Franzese has kindly shared a video review that he has recently carried out on a range of wet close up lenses with Micro 4/3 cameras. His results do have resonance with other camera types too. In this report, he has tested the Inon UCL67 and Inon UCL90 along with the Nauticam CMC 1 and CMC 2.
Video: One Breath around the World by Guillaume Néry
Freediver and performer Guillaume Néry has released his latest short film. Entitled One Breath Around The World it documents his project of the same name. He describes it: “It is a kind of a freediving World Tour that brings them to discover exceptional sites of our blue planet and meet people or animals as exceptional.”
Panasonic announces LUMIX S series full frame mirrorless cameras
Panasonic has announced their new S1 and S1R full frame mirrorless cameras. The S1R has a 47.3 MP full-frame CMOS sensor while the LUMIX S1 comes with a 24.2 MP version. Both feature the L mount lens standard and offer video recording at 4K 60p/50p with the S1 capable of 4:2:2 10-bit 4K 30p/25p internal video recording and 4K 60p/50p HDMI output as well as V-Log, with an optional software upgrade key that will follow later in the year.
2018 World Shootout results announced
The 2018 World Shootout announced its results at the BOOT show in Dusseldorf. Entries were received from 641 photographers representing 37 countries, and the overall winning image was Andy Schmid’s image of a marine iguana. Wetpixel contributor Mike Bartick won the “5 Best Image” category. Congratulation to all the winners and those amongst the placings
Sharkwater Extinction released
Rob Stewart’s film Sharkwater (and the subsequent film Revolution) created an incredible impetus for the conservation of sharks and the marine environment worldwide. In January 2017 Rob died in a diving accident while filming for his third film, Sharkwater Extinction. Rob’s friends and fellow conservationists have banded together to finish his work, and the film is being released today in digital form on iTunes US and iTunes Canada
Travels with Inon’s Takuya Torii
Wetpixel Publisher Adam Hanlon recently spent a week with one of the hardest working individuals in the underwater imaging industry, Inon’s Takuya Torii. During the week, he attended the Inon UK event in London, dived in 5°C (41°F) water with multiple remote strobes, visited the Lake District and attended the BOOT show in Dusseldorf!

UK Distributor Intro 2020 has announced that Kenko has released a new range of their popular Teleplus teleconverters. The HD Pro series has additional optical elements and improved coatings, and electrical connection with EXIF data. They are available in 1.4 and 2 X versions and for Nikon F and Canon E mounts.
Video: Stars of Muck by Sascha Janson
Video and photo pro Sascha Janson has shared a video with a series of clips featuring a vast variety of critters from the Lembeh Straits, Indonesia. “Stars of Muck” was awarded second place in the World Shootout’s Video Clips of the World 2018 contest.
