Isotta ships housing for GoPro HERO7
Italian housing manufacturer, Isotta is shipping their 200 meters rated aluminum housing for the GoPro HERO7 action camera. Designed with the same port size and shape as the GoPro housing, the housing has a rear sunscreen and M6 and 1/4W threaded accessory attachment holes.
Microplastics found in river prove they are not just an ocean problem
During a unique expedition project, German professor Andreas Fath collected water samples throughout the length of the 652-mile long Tennessee River. What he found was alarming - sections of the river contained 12,000 - 18,000 plastic particles per cubic meter. In contrast, samples he had taken in Germany’s Rhine River contained only 200 plastic particles per cubic meter. Long thought to be a problem relating to ocean pollution, micro plastics have invaded intercoastal waterways as well.
People are opting for their remains to be used in building artificial reefs
People are opting for their final wish to be their remains are included in an artificial reef. The Neptune Memorial Reef is an artificial reef located 3.25 miles off Key Biscayne in the Florida Keys. The 16-acre memorial reef is situated in 45-fee of water and features the remains of people wishing a more environmentally friendly and ocean centric burial.

Adobe has released Photoshop and Premiere Elements 2019. Photoshop Elements is simplified and offers a new customisable home screen. Premiere Elements has a redesigned Quick Edit mode and support for VFR, HEIC and HEVC formats.

Episode 9 of the web series Timor-Leste From Below has been released. This week’s episode features saltwater crocodiles and an expedition to Oé-Cusse. “Crocodile Caller… an expedition to Oé-Cusse in Timor-Leste. An integral part of Timorese folklore, saltwater crocodiles inhabit the island of Timor-Leste in their thousands. Some indigenous elders on the island still revere and communicate with these aquatic beasts, they are known as the croc callers.”
Maarten de Brauwer: Time to stop mucking around?
Scientist and researcher Maarten de Brauwer is studying the impact that divers and photographers have on the marine environment. His most recent paper Time to stop mucking around? Impacts of underwater photography on cryptobenthic fauna found in soft sediment habitats was published in the Journal of Environmental Management earlier this year. In this article, he kindly provides a synopsis of his research and some guidelines about ways in which underwater image makers can help avoid inadvertent environmental damage.
Donations being accepted for victims of Palu Earthquake and Tsunami
