Results: UPY 2022
The 2022 Underwater Photograph of the Year (UPY) contest’s results have been announced. The overall and wide angle winner was Rafael Fernandez Caballero with his image of a group of whale sharks feeding in the Maldives. Many congratulations to him and to all those that were placed.
British Championship Announced for 3 September
The British Society of Underwater Photographers (BSoUP) has announced that the 2022 British & Irish Underwater Photography Championship will take place on 3 September. The contest is a shootout style and welcomes entries shot on the day within the UK and Ireland.
Results: World Shootout 2021
The World Shootout announced the results of its 2021 contest at a live online event last Saturday. The winner was Hannah Le Leu with a lovely image half and half of a turtle hatchling. Congratulations to all the winners and those among the placings in the numerous categories.
Philippines Re-Opens for Visitors
The Philippines Department of Tourism has announced that the nation will be accepting fully vaccinated foreign “leisure” visitors from visa-free countries from 10 February. In order to enter the Philippines, visitors will need to present a negative RT-PVCR test taken no more than 48 hours prior to departure from the point of origin.

The team at Go Ask Erin have released a short free video or “Nerd Alert” tutorial that hopes to demystify the new masking tools in Lightroom 11.

Awards Ceremony: 2021 World Shootout
The winners of the 2021 World Shootout will be announced live on the contest’s Facebook page at 7.30 am PT on 29 January. Ordinarily, this would take place live at the BOOT Show, but has gone online due to the latter’s cancellation due to COVID restrictions.
Nauticam Ships NA-A7IV Housing for Sony α7IV
Nauticam is shipping their NA-A7IV housing for the Sony α7IV camera. It has a dedicated lever for switching between video, still, and VFR mode. It offers the option HDMI 2.0 out and uses the N100 port system. Strobe triggering is via fiber optic with an optional flash trigger.
