Adobe has released updates to Lightroom and Camera Raw. Lightroom CC 2015.6/6.6 and Camera Raw 9.6 both feature a new transform panel that offers a guided mode for perspective correction and straightening.
Turkey sinks an Airbus to attract diving tourism
Turkish officials have sunk an Airbus A300 in the Aegean Sea off the coast of Turkey to create an artificial reef. The move comes as tourism to the country is in sharp decline following tensions with Moscow. The airplane was dismantled and sunk off the resort town Kuşadası, which is a popular diving destination in Turkey.
Video: Cave Diving El Toh by Jonas Pedersen
Jonas Pedersen has shot this surreal and beautiful video of diving the cave system at El Toh in Mexico’s Yucatan. The video was shot on a Sony a7s in S Log 2 and set at between ISO3,200 to ISO50,000. The image is stunningly clean, showing just how amazing the low-light performance of this camera really is.
Michael Muller photographs great white sharks
Phase One has released a video featuring celebrity and advertising photographer Michael Muller as he tries to capture great white sharks (Carcharodon carcharias) breaching off South Africa. His goal was to use studio lighting and medium format cameras to capture the sharks in mid air in a way never attempted before. (All images © Michael Muller.)
Aquatica announces Close-Up System
Aquatica has announced the release of their Aquatica Close-Up (ACU) system. It consists of +5 and +10 close up lenses, a flip holder, step down ring, lens caddy, manual focus gears and the macro mini port. The components have been redesigned to ensure that they are all compatible.
Video: 18 foot Great White Shark
Earth Touch’s Wild Oceans page has posted a video featuring an 18-foot great white shark swimming in Guadalupe, Mexico. The shark is named Mystery and is a well known visitor to the island. The video was filmed by Jimi Partington.
Scientists capture video of a deep sea fish with “feet”
During NOAA’s Okeanos exploration of the Mona Canyon off the coast of Puerto Rico during the Oceano Profundo a deep sea fish was filmed walking along the bottom. The Pink Frogmouth, Chaunax pictus, is a type of anglerfish that uses modified fins to “walk” across the seafloor.
Nikon replaces older batteries for D500 owners
Nikon are offering a free battery exchange for D500 owners that are have EN-EL15 batteries that were made prior to summer 2013. The camera dose not provide an accurate battery life indicator with the older batteries. The older versions are marked as “Li-ion01” whilst the newer are “Li-ion20”.
