Isotta Ships Housing for EOS R5
Isotta is shipping their signature red housing for the Canon EOS R5 mirrorless camera. It has fiber optic connections, along with 3 x M16 and 1 x M24 ports for electric connections, vacuums, or HDMI out. It uses Isotta’s 120mm port system.
Call for Entries: 2021 Mangrove Photography Awards
The Mangrove Action Project is now accepting entries to the 2021 Mangrove Photography Awards. The contest celebrates these amazing habitats and offers categories for images depicting Wildlife, People, Landscape, Underwater, Threats, and Youth themes mangrove images. It is free to enter, with the rules being available and the deadline for entries is 26 July.

Video: Ikelite Strobe Lock Maintenance
Ikelite has republished a video that runs through how to clean and recondition the closure mechanism of their DS160/161 strobes equipped with NiCd, NiMH or Li-Ion battery packs. If you find the locks start feeling a bit crunchy, it shows how to clean it out. Tools required include a thin flat screwdriver, q-tips, and a lint-free microfiber cleaning cloth.
New Shark Conservation Measures
There was great news for sharks on UN World Oceans Day. Seasave reports that Hawaii Governor David Ige signed nine new laws in a ceremony to mark World Oceans Day, including a ban on intentionally or knowingly capturing, entangling or killing a shark in state marine waters. Meanwhile, in the US Senate, a bill passed that bans the transport, sale, or purchase of shark fins.
Deep Visions 2021 is Open for Entries
Scubashooters.net has announced its 2021 Deep Visions Underwater Photography Awards. Categories include Portfolio, Macro DSLR, Wide Angle DSLR, Macro Compact Camera, Wide Angle Compact Camera, Blackwater, Sharks and Cetaceans, and Conservation. Entries are open now and the deadline is 30 June 2021

So, there is no doubt that every day should be World Oceans Day, but having the UN designate a day in which we all remember and reinforce our commitments to the planet’s oceans and use our imagery to help persuade people that they should be involved in finding solutions for their long-term survival, is a positive and motivating power for good.
