Canon announces new services for photographers
Canon has announced two new services for photographers. Image Connect aims to connect photographers with potential customers via an online portal. Powered by the Canon Computer Vision AI engine, the new Photo Culling Plugin for Adobe Lightroom Classic can automatically cull images that the app identifies suffering from poor image sharpness, noise, exposure, contrast, closed eyes, and red eyes.
Nikon unveils the D780 full frame SLR camera
At CES, Nikon has announced a successor to the D750 full-frame SLR camera. The D780 has a 24.5MP sensor, combined with the EXPEED 6 image processor, giving a native ISO range of 100 to 51,2000 autofocus is via 51 points, combined with the SF algorithm from the D5. It can shoot 4K UHD video at 30 fps with full-pixel readout and 10-bit output with N-Log or HDR (Hybrid Log-Gamma) support.
Announcing the DPG/Wetpixel Masters Underwater Imaging Competition 2020
Wetpixel and DivePhoto Guide are excited to announce the rebranding of the Our World Underwater imaging contest. This year, it has become the DPG/Wetpixel Masters Underwater Imaging Competition 2020. Featuring a stunning judging panel of David Doubilet, Stephen Frink, Erin Quigley, Scott “Gutsy” Tuason, Keri Wilk and Tony Wu, the format of the contest will remain unchanged and will continue to represent the pinnacle of achievement for underwater image-makers. It is open for entries now and the deadline is 8 February.
Canon announces the ID X Mark III
Canon has announced its flagship 1D X Mark III camera. It has a 20.1 MP sensor and a new DIGIC X Image Processor with a native ISO range of 100-102400. Autofocus is with a new 191 point via the optical VF, and Dual Pixel in Live View. It is capable of 12-bit 5.5K RAW video internal recording and oversampling 4K 60p video recording using the full width of the sensor in Canon Log with 10-bit 4:2:2.

Final Call: UPY 2020
The 2020 Underwater Photographer of the Year contest is making its final call for entries. It offers 12 standard categories and 2 special ones for marine conservation imagery and photographic books. The deadline for entries is 11:59 GMT on 3 January 2020 and the winners will be announced at the Go Diving Show in Coventry, UK on 22 February.
