Call for entries: Beneath the Sea 2020
The annual Beneath the Sea exhibition is calling for entries to its underwater imaging competition. The event is due to be held at the Meadowlands Exposition Center, Secaucus, New Jersey between 27 and 29 March 2020. The deadline for entries to the contest is 31 December 2019.
Inon details compatibility with Olympus TG-6
Inon has released detailed information about the compatibility of its lighting, lens and arm products with the Olympus TG-6 compact camera in the Olympus PT-059 housing.
Nikon adds macro lenses to Z series road map
Nikon has released a new roadmap of the development of Z mount lenses. Of particular note is the addition of both 60 mm and 105 mm micro (macro) lenses. The road map shows 105 mm as being an S-line lens, although the speculation is that these will both be f/2.8 lenses. They will provide alternatives to the current 60 and 105 mm lenses with the FTZ combination, which seems to give sub-par AF performance.
Nikon announces the Z50 mirrorless camera
Nikon has announced the Z50 mirrorless DX camera. It features the same Z mount as the Z6 and Z7, a 20.9-megapixel CMOS sensor and an EXPEED 6 image processor, offering a native ISO range up to 51,200. It has a 209-point Hybrid AF System and can record 4K video or 1080 at 120fps.
Sony announces a9 Mark II
Sony has announced the next version of its pro a9 mirrorless camera. The Alpha 9 II has the same 24.2 MP sensor as its predecessor but its AF has 693 focal-plane phase-detection AF and 425 contrast AF points. It also has any updates Bionz X image processor and 5 axis image stabilization.
UW Technics ships TTL strobe trigger for Sony A6000 series cameras
UW Technics are shipping their TTL strobe trigger and converter for Sony A6000 series cameras in Nauticam housings. It offers fiber optic or electronic triggering and the board can be user installed. It works with Inon, Ikelite, Sea&Sea and Subtronic strobes.
GoPro announces HERO8 Black and MAXA
GoPro has announced their HERO8 Black and MAX cameras, along with a range of accessories. The former offers 4K60 and 1080p240 video, along with RAW still image capture and video stabilization. MAX can record 1440p60 and 1080p60 HERO video along with 5.6K30 360 video. The HERO8 is waterproof to 10 meters, while MAX is waterproof to 5m.
Join Wetpixel for Whale Sharks 2020
Wetpixel is very happy to announce that we will be returning to Isla Mujeres, Mexico once again to witness and document the amazing aggregation of whale sharks (Rhincodon typus). Each year hundreds of these amazing animals gather to feed on the abundant planktonic eggs, providing an amazing and unique natural spectacle. Our trip this year will run from 21 to 27 July, with 5 days on the water, and is strictly limited to a total of 12 participants.
