Lightroom Texture Adjustment for underwater photographers

Wetpixel offers an early guide to the new Texture slider that was launched in the most recent release of Adobe’s Lightroom Classic app. Offering a subtle way of enhancing details in an image, it seems to add contrast to mid-frequency areas of an image. This is ideally suited for correcting the inherent softness caused by shooting through water and the optics we use to do so. As a negative local adjustment, the new tool is an effective way of dealing with backscatter too.

The Blue Green Awards are presented at the annual ADEX Show in Singapore. Sarah Ann Wormald profiles the very worthy recipient of the “Personality of the Year” award. Lembeh Foundation’s Helen Pananggung is a human dynamo, motivating, persuading, cajoling and sometimes dragging (!) her community to embrace new ways of both reducing waste and upcycling the existing trash discarded in the area. Backscatter reviews the Panasonic LX100 II

Wetpixel sponsor Backscatter Underwater Photo and Video have posted an excellent review of the underwater performance of the Panasonic LX100 mark II compact camera. The camera features a Micro 4/3 sensor, significantly larger than the 25 mm sensors on most high-performance compact cameras. The review notes that using wet lenses allows for a sufficient range of focal lengths and that the wide angle performance of the camera was found by the reviewers to be very good.
